About Al

Al moved from Montreal to make Waterloo Region his home. He saw the area as a great place to raise a family and is committed to helping others find their dream home here.

He specializes in working with first time home buyers, new homes and investment properties.

In his spare time Al enjoys canoeing on the Grand River, reading, exploring interesting coffee shops in the area and travel.

What do you like about Waterloo Region?

The growth and diversity of our area is exciting. When I came here it was very different than it is now. I enjoy working with clients that have fascinating jobs in the tech sector and are propelling us forward. It also fascinating to hear from clients that have been here for many years to talk about the changes and how much we’ve grown. I find people in Waterloo Region are very community orientated and have pride in the area.

Open houses – yay or nay?

A little bit of both. Open houses are great for inviting any potential buyers to come through a home, but there is a lot more impact when an agent goes through a home with clients. Agents can point out benefits of the home that a buyer may not see on their own.

What’s your favorite thing about real estate?

That every day is something new. I enjoy meeting new people all the time, the challenge of putting a deal together and the strategy I work out for each situation to ensure we’re successful. Working with clients to help them achieve their dreams is the best part of my job.

About Arlene

Arlene is an active community member, volunteering her time with many local organizations she believes in.

She specializes in working with clients that are relocating, downsizing and first time home buyers. She has a keen eye for staging homes, and treats every client like family.

In her spare time she enjoys hikes with her golden retriever, Max, and time with her family, including three young grandchildren.

What do you like about Waterloo Region?

The mix of city and country living. Driving 10 minutes out of the city feels like I’ve stumbled upon a nature oasis. There are so many natural areas, parks and hiking paths, we are truly lucky here. Not just that, but the farmland is wonderful too. Eating locally and healthy is so easy to do here.

Home Staging – what is the one thing you’d suggest if people do nothing else?

I hope cleaning and tidying is a given, so after that’s been done, remove all evidence of yourself. It seems harsh, but it goes far. I’ve seen buyers walk through and notice a photo where they recognize someone (like an ex!), or the seller’s book collection, or even a hobby room full of craft supplies. When the buyer sees this they make unconscious judgements about if the home fits their lifestyle. The easiest way to sell your home for top dollar? Rent a storage locker for a month and pack as much as you can of your personal items away.

What’s your favorite thing about real estate?

Making connections with people during such an important time in their lives. Whether it’s a first home, investment property or downsizing for retirement all of these occasions are important milestones and I treat each one as such.
